As-Salaamu-Alaykum
I would like to know any success stories about any Muslims who have sought marriage partners over the internet and have married them. It seems that there are a lot of Islamic marriage services and I need to know are any of them reputable. I have a young daughter approaching the marriage age and I was interested in what other Muslims have to say and what they know about this.

Salam..
I have heard a FEW numbered success stories..
generally it is not a good way to find a husband.. as I have discovered myself..
And as a scholar and imam has answered me about this topic once.. he said it is not a good place to look for a marriage partner, as there is always a hidden agenda... and he was right..
if it is the ONLY way for you to find muslims, then i would proceed with a huge amount of caution, and i would beleive no one, and trust no one.. have them checked out properly .. and dont let the daughter correspond with them. only her wali. Once you investigate the person, and check references properly... then her wali ( a man) should meet him adn his family.. and see what he thinks of him.. and his faith and his manners... and if he is acting or not.... THEN.. you can see if the girl is even interested in him.
otherwise, Dont expose your daughter to the filth that is out there...
its probably a harsh opinion of the internet world.. but it comes from my own personal experience... as is the case with opinions...
salam

salaam
one time i was at my friend's house and her 14 yr old brother and his friends were reading these online rishtay ads and responding to them for fun. i was truly shocked. but i do know people who have had success with it. so just BE CAREFUL. ask for pictures and to talk to the guys parents or something.

Ask your local masjid(mosque)'s imaam, the Imaam knows the families well in the community and has connections, he can inshallah help find someone suitable.
if you like marriage sites, email the moderator of this mailing list inshallah

-786- Assalaamu 'Alaikum Sisters in Islam, I am currently using the internet to search for a husband. With modest description (no pictures) and a brief statement of intent Muslim ladies can use the internet with safety. Islamically a previously married lady does not have to have a wali (counsel), but it is better if she does -- especially using this venue. You can have him to preview and correspond with the Muslim brothers that interest you and act as moderator. In any case, this would be a better way to search for a mate whether in using the masjids/Imams, placing ads on the internet or through Muslim friends.
May Allah guide you in your search and make Istakara for your needs, Amin.
