Assalamualaikum
Sisters I just became Muslim
I can't believe how many people don't want to talk about it.. I told a family member how at peace it makes me and she just went ohhh.
I am still learning and read on my lunch break
Someone asked me what I was reading I told them and didn't go in to detail but got a snid rude remark and I just went on my merry way.
Why are so many people against Islam ??
Thank you for your help :)

Assalamuaikum
Elhumdulilah, to become Muslim must be the greatest gift Allah Most High can bestow upon anyboby. I, myself have been brought to the light of Islam, and I have never regretted it for a single second. I am the only member of my whole family who is Muslim, and although I know they cannot comprehend why I converted, they are, fortuneately, respectful towards me. I think people are sometimes scared of Islam - because they do not know what it is all about. When I was Christian, a lot of sniddy remarks were made against Muslims by fellow Christians. I could never understand why. But I believe a reason could be that Allah, Most High, has put a disease in their hearts. We must be so thankfull Allah has guided us to the truth. I would like to correspond with other sisters who also entered the glorious deen of Islam.
Shukran

I am a Christian, but I will be living in Bahrain for two years. I have the Koran and have been reading it with much interest. When I encounter other Christians (some fundamentalist Baptists) I get those same looks. When I point out how much Islam and Christianity share in common at their roots, the looks soften.
I applaud your decision, and your best defense is to know your new religion. Share with those Christians the parts of Islam that speak to you. Zealots turn everyone off. I have found my Muslim friends to be the most honest and forthcoming about Islam and that is comforting. Over-the-top Christians are more annoying than anything.
Best wishes to you.

Dear Shukran,
I don't think you have read that much of the Quran yet yourself. If you had, you would have a better idea why there are some people who are "scared" of Islam. They are the ones who actally know what Islam can be about.
I quite agree with you that most Muslims are not fanatical. The truth is, the ones people think are fanatical are exactly the ones who, by all appearances, most closely follow the book! Most Muslims have adapted to civilization, East or West. But, in truth, they are not following the " Islamic law" of the Quran.

Could you please explain to me why the Koran teaches that it is a good thing to attack non-believers (infidels)?

I have accepted Islam now about 8 months ago and I am very happy with my new found relegion. But like many other converters of Christianity I have some question that may seem simple to other but very difficult for me to understand. I am the only member of my family who is Muslim and they are supportive of me and my husband and children. One of my questions is first, How can a Muslims man marry a non-Muslim women being (christian) but there is not to be any inter-mingling with women and non-believers? Should I not have contact with my family members because they are KUFFAR? Can a husband and wife use birth control? These are only SOME of my many question that I have. I have spoken to other Muslim Sisters and The Eman of the Masjid and even read the book called "Islamic Fatawa regarding women". I have gotten some different answers between them all and I am lost as to what to believe. Can someone please help a Sister out with some VALID information to live by. Remember I am a new convented Muslim living in America with the American Laws.

As a non Muslim, I think I can safely say why there is so much animosity against followers of Islam. First, throughout the world, with some exception, most of the world's conflicts involve militant Muslims either fighting secular governments or even each other! Second, after 9/11 there has been virtually no outrage expressed by the Muslim community at large, against that horrific act of hate. The only Iman I have heard denounce terrorism done in the name of Allah was a black American. Third, there is a vast amount of ignorance regarding Islamic religion and customs. I believe if there were more educationally based programs designed to inform those of us from the west, less prejudice would exist.

Islam has taken the best of Judaism and Christianity and copied it, changing aspects to fit its culture. Your religion is based upon a moon god not the true God so it is easy to see why you have been led astray. Why hatred is a trademark of your "faith".

First of all TANYA, who has been led astray? Not the people who have chosen the religion of Islam! You mean the christians have gone astray. Let me ask you something. Your christian right, why dont some of yall do what your suppose too? You dont cover your hair, you dont dress modestly, you dont fast, christians dont do nothing. It says that in the bible. Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. Why do christians worship Jesus when he is not god! He died for your sins? Are you sure about that? You dont know that. Your getting this information from a book. It's not true. ISLAM is the true religion and if anybody has a problem with that, Come Holla !

How is it non-descriminate and non-prejudice to have a "Females Only" and a "Males Only" section?
This is sex descrimination in modern terminology and understanding of the issue.
Women are not any different from men, other than the things they have dangling (and we don't) between their legs.

Haneefah,
"Why do christians worship Jesus when he is not god! He died for your sins? Are you sure about that? You dont know that. Your getting this information from a book. "
Same as your belief systems have been given you by a book.
Religion has been the cause of all wars since the dawning of human kind. Religion sucks. Add another "o" in God, and it spells "Good".
Don't simply believe anything because it was written in a book, your families told you it was the truth, and certainly do not put any stock in something that is a pervasive element of war: religion.
Peace.
