Assalamualaikum

Sisters I just became Muslim

I can't believe how many people don't want to talk about it.. I told a family member how at peace it makes me and she just went ohhh.

I am still learning and read on my lunch break
Someone asked me what I was reading I told them and didn't go in to detail but got a snid rude remark and I just went on my merry way.

Why are so many people against Islam ??

Thank you for your help :)

Assalamuaikum

Elhumdulilah, to become Muslim must be the greatest gift Allah Most High can bestow upon anyboby. I, myself have been brought to the light of Islam, and I have never regretted it for a single second. I am the only member of my whole family who is Muslim, and although I know they cannot comprehend why I converted, they are, fortuneately, respectful towards me. I think people are sometimes scared of Islam - because they do not know what it is all about. When I was Christian, a lot of sniddy remarks were made against Muslims by fellow Christians. I could never understand why. But I believe a reason could be that Allah, Most High, has put a disease in their hearts. We must be so thankfull Allah has guided us to the truth. I would like to correspond with other sisters who also entered the glorious deen of Islam.
Shukran

I am a Christian, but I will be living in Bahrain for two years. I have the Koran and have been reading it with much interest. When I encounter other Christians (some fundamentalist Baptists) I get those same looks. When I point out how much Islam and Christianity share in common at their roots, the looks soften.

I applaud your decision, and your best defense is to know your new religion. Share with those Christians the parts of Islam that speak to you. Zealots turn everyone off. I have found my Muslim friends to be the most honest and forthcoming about Islam and that is comforting. Over-the-top Christians are more annoying than anything.

Best wishes to you.

Dear Shukran,
I don't think you have read that much of the Quran yet yourself. If you had, you would have a better idea why there are some people who are "scared" of Islam. They are the ones who actally know what Islam can be about.
I quite agree with you that most Muslims are not fanatical. The truth is, the ones people think are fanatical are exactly the ones who, by all appearances, most closely follow the book! Most Muslims have adapted to civilization, East or West. But, in truth, they are not following the " Islamic law" of the Quran.

Could you please explain to me why the Koran teaches that it is a good thing to attack non-believers (infidels)?
